Trump classic

YOU would have been forgiven for thinking it was a scene from BBC sketch show Burnistoun.

Hanoi chef Collin Kelly was serving up Trump-Kim themed burgers in honour of the US President’s summit with North Korean premier Kim Jong in Vietnam these week, according to Reuters.

The chef described his “Dirty Donald” creation – double beef, double bacon, cheese, fried pickles and, controversially, Russian dressing - as an “American classic” and “so extravagant”, like the US president himself.

And the name of the restaurant? The Dirty Bird.

‘Taps’ nearly aff

IT has not quite been “taps aff” weather as temperatures reached unseasonal highs this week, but almost.

Indeed, it has been so warm some even ventured out without a sweater, as Springfield Properties chief executive Innes Smith revealed.

“I had a round of golf on Saturday and I had my jumper off,” declared the incredulous housebuilder.

One suspects it will be a while before Mr Smith ventures out without a V-neck in the bag.

Taking flight

ROCK icons Led Zeppelin chartered a passenger jet to tour the US in their 1970s heyday.

BrewDog may not be as keen to emulate the decadent scenes which, legend has it, took place aboard The Starship but it is determined to ensure that passengers can enjoy a decent beer when they take to the air – espeically last weekend for the maiden flight of BrewDog Airlines, when the craft beer firm chartered a Boeing 767, above, to take 200 beer fans on four-day trip from London to its brewery in Columbus, Ohio.

Good times

YOU’RE here for a good time, not a long time.

It is a maxim commonly espoused in Glasgow, where citizens have routinely shown their deep commitment to enjoying themselves – no matter how grim the economic circumstances.

In that context, it should perhaps come as no surprise to hear that Glasgow is currently one of the best locations in the UK for people seeking a healthy work-life balance.

Nottingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Bristol, Southampton, London, Leeds, Cardiff and Manchester all play second fiddle to the dear Green City when it comes to ensuring that critical balance is maintained, according to a survey by C-V Library. Right, whose round is it next?

Start ’em young

BARRATT Developments, to borrow the old football phrase, is giving youth a chance.

The housebuilder said it taking on 16 apprentices in Scotland, where it will provide its recruits with a grounding in key skills such as bricklaying, joinery and plumbing.

Its announcement comes ahead of the 12th annual National Apprenticeship Week, which takes place next week.

Douglas McLeod, regional managing director for Barratt in Scotland, said the firm has a “duty to provide these kinds of apprenticeship opportunities.”
