DPS Group hires leading businessman
DPS Group, the Glenrothes-based electrical engineering firm, has appointment of Steve Turner as commercial director.
A former senior executive at Casio and ACCO Brands, Mr Turner is also a former International Trade Adviser working with groups including Scottish Development International where he worked on promoting Scotland’s construction sector.
He currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Scottish Business Network.
Mr Turner is a partner in investment group Exolta Capital Partners, and founded ExportingAdvice.com which has advised 1,500 businesses on how to prepare for international trade, most recently focusing on the impact of Brexit.
Welcoming his appointment, DPS Group director Colin Burnett comments: “It is a real signal of our intention to continue to grow the business and we warmly welcome Steve to our team.”
Davidson Chalmers names 11th partner
Commercial law firm Davidson Chalmers has announced that Greg Flett is to become its 11th partner. He joined the firm’s dispute resolution team six years ago and was promoted to associate level in early 2014.
In his new role, Mr Flett will take the lead in the specialist area of contentious construction work. He will also continue to manage and develop his commercial litigation practice.
The announcement is accompanied by three additional internal promotions. Arveen Arabshahi (corporate), Lisa Graham (commercial property) and Magnus Miller (dispute resolution) all move from their current role of senior solicitor to associate level.
Davidson Chalmers managing partner, Andrew Chalmers, said: “I’m delighted to announce Greg’s promotion to Partner level and the elevation of our three colleagues to the role of Associate. These are all thoroughly deserved."
Gardener comes into bloom at Blair Castle
Blair Castle and Gardens in Perthshire has appointed Jo Harrigan as head gardener.
Part of the 145,000 acre Atholl Estates, Blair Castle and Gardens attracts 140,000 visitors each year.
Ms Harrigan comes from a family of horticulturists and reaplced her father as head gardener at Belsay Hall Castle and Gardens. Having developed the gardens at Beslay she was keen to move.
As head gardener Ms Harrigan will work closely with a small team of four to develop and maintain the vast landscaping and outdoor space on the estate.
Julia Sim, head of sales and marketing at Blair Castle, said: “Having someone of Jo’s calibre join our team here gives us enormous scope for development.”
