UK manufacturing growth remained steady in October, but inflationary pressures in the sector intensified as factory gate prices rose at a faster pace, a survey shows.

Employment growth in the UK manufacturing sector also picked up, according to the survey published yesterday by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.

CIPS’s manufacturing purchasing managers’ index for manufacturing, which measures changes in output, new orders, employment, suppliers’ delivery times and stocks of goods purchased, rose from a seasonally adjusted 56 in September to 56.3 in October.
