New managing partner for firm
Johnston Carmichael has announced that Mark Stewart will replace Andrew Shepherd as managing partner at the accountancy firm’s Edinburgh office.
Corporate finance partner Mark Stewart will take over the reins of the 125-strong office, while Mr Shepherd, who has held the role since the office opened in 2002, will remain chairman of the firm.
Mr Stewart heads up the firm’s infrastructure and renewable energy advisory team and has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector.
Sandy Manson, chief executive at Johnston Carmichael, said: “A key part of our firm’s strategy is to have robust succession plans in place and to develop talent from within to maintain a strong leadership team.
“It’s an exciting time for our business as it enters a new phase of growth and Mark’s appointment will help ensure that our team continues to build on the tremendous success story of our Edinburgh practice.”
Big Four firm reveals promotions
KPMG in Scotland has announced a three new partners, five director promotions, and new heads of tax, audit and consulting.
Partner Alan Turner has been appointed head of tax in Scotland. He takes over from Jon Meeten, who is remaining with the firm.
Hugh Harvie, who has been at KPMG since 1994, took over as head of the audit practice earlier this year following the retirement of Alex Sanderson. He now leads a team of more than 100. Sam Subesinghe, who joined in 1993, has been made head of consulting in Scotland and oversees a range services.
John Waterson has been promoted to audit partner, while David O’Hara and Sandra Gilchrist have been made tax partners.
A number of director promotions have also been made, with Katie Morrison, Andrew Williamson and Iain McLellan joining the senior team in Glasgow. Rob Logue and Jacqueline Hughes became directors in Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
Glasgow moves for insurer Marsh
Insurance broker Marsh has named Maureen Robertson as head of its Glasgow office and Martin McKenna as regional sales leader, Scotland.
Both will report to Allan McPherson, who heads up the Scotland and the North of England Region.
From its Glasgow hub, Marsh provides insurance, risk advisory and claims services to a wide range of organisations, from growing local businesses to multinational companies headquartered in Scotland, as well as firms with Scottish operations. The firm also has offices in Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
Ms Robertson joined Marsh in 2012 and was previously regional client services director, Scotland.
