LORD Wallace of Tankerness, the former deputy first minister and Advocate General, has been appointed by ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland) to its regulation board.

The former leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, and leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords, has joined the board initially as a public interest member, with a view to becoming chairman in December.

The appointment comes shortly after ICAS appointed former Lord Advocate Dame Elish Angiolini as chairwoman of its discipline board.

Lord Wallace said: “My association with ICAS goes back to the 1990s, when I was the Institute’s Parliamentary Adviser.

“I am delighted to be working with them again as a public interest member of the regulation board.”
