Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 210 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1190 per head and 250.7p per kg to average £866.74 and 215.8p (+6.1p on the fortnight), while 387 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1240 and 264.5p to level at £939.64 and 228.2p (+11.4p). Forty-six store, B&W bullocks sold to £980 and 200p to average £687.28 and 146.9p (+7.5p).
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had 470 store cattle forward in St Boswells on Thursday when heifers sold to £1090 and 272.7p to average £659.42 and 221.5p (+0.7p), while bullocks peaked at £1380 and 260p to level at £1004.17 and 222.1p (-7.9p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 5350 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £110 per head and 292p per kg to average 172.3p (+3.3p on the week).
The firm also had 4247 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £152 for a pen of Texels and averaged £75.89 (+£5.08), while light ewes peaked at £71 for Blackfaces and levelled at £40.55 (+£3.37). Rams sold to £116 for a Texel and averaged £67.20.
