LYON & TURNBULL, the auctioneer chaired by Sir Angus Grossart, has posted a retained profit of nearly £110,000 in its last financial year.

The profit is revealed in new accounts for the historic Edinburgh firm, which auctions fine art, jewellery and antiques, newly available at Companies House. According to the abbreviated accounts, the auctioneer had total assets less current liabilities of £3.3 million at July 31, broadly in line with the end of its previous financial year.

Lyon & Turnbull, which was founded in 1826 and revived in a deal backed by Sir Angus in 1999, saw shareholder funds rise to £2.6m from £2.5m.
