JOHN Robertson & Sons (Hamcurers) has invested £3 million in a second food-processing plant, at Irvine, as it targets expansion.

The parent company of Robertson’s Fine Foods of Ayrshire has its existing food-processing facility at its base at Ardrossan. The investment in the Irvine plant, located in the shell of an existing building, has been supported by a six-figure grant from Scottish Enterprise.

Robertson’s, one of Scotland’s biggest pork and bacon producers, said the new, 36,000 sq ft processing unit in Irvine would increase capacity, helping the business support its current customer base and expand into new supply chains.
