SABMiller has pushed back the deadline for rival Anheuser-Busch InBev to make a formal takeover bid by a further week to finalise details of their £68 billion deal.

The two brewing giants, which last month announced a preliminary agreement over a £44 a share offer, said they had made "good progress" in agreeing the terms but still needed another week.

The Budweiser owner now has until 5pm on November 11 to table the mega-merger.
