WEB filtering and online security provider Bloxx has been snapped up US-based Akamai Technologies for an undisclosed sum.

The Scottish company, which has its headquarters in Livingston, West Lothian, is said to have around seven million people using its software around the world.

Nasdaq-listed Akamai said it planned to use Bloxx, founded in 1999 and now employing 55, to enhance its security offering in the cloud computing market.
