SYNTEL, the global IT giant, has opened its first office in Scotland after clinching a major contract with Clydesdale Bank.

The NASDAQ-listed company, which provides outsourcing solutions for the financial services sector, has taken a 10-year lease on a 4,239 square foot space at the recently-refurbished 145 St Vincent Street in Glasgow.

It is thought that the space would allow Syntel to accommodate in the region of 40 staff at the site.

Syntel has joined companies such as Aviva, law firm Morton Fraser and Arcus Renewables in taking space at the revamped building, which is owned by Aberdeen Asset Management.

The Syntel deal was secured for Aberdeen Asset Management by property firms JLL and Ryden.

JLL’s Colin McGhee said: “145 St Vincent Street recently underwent significant refurbishment which has transformed it into one of the city’s premier business addresses.

“With this marking Syntel’s first office in Scotland, it’s a real testament not only to the quality of the refurbishment but also its prime location in the city centre.”

The building, still to be fully let following the refurbishment, is located in Glasgow’s central business district, close to transport links and amenities such as bars, restaurants and shops.

Ryden’s Tim Jacobsen said: “For prospective tenants, 145 St Vincent Street has much to offer thanks to its open plan layout and excellent connectivity.

With around 8,000 square feet still available in the building, we expect interest in the remaining space to be high.”
