Havelock Europa has reported a £1.8 million underlying loss just weeks after announcing plans to cut around 50 jobs.

The Fife company, which fits out shops, education facilities and offices, said revenue from its continuing operations dipped from £30.5m to £28.9m.

The total loss for the first six months of the year was £2.4m, up from £2.3m, including exceptional costs and the results from the education supplies business Havelock has sold.

At the start of this month the AIM-listed firm issued a profit warning and said it was shedding around 10 per cent of its workforce.
