THE high streets of Scotland’s towns and cities are starting to show signs of recovery, after a long period in which rental values tumbled, a report issued by commercial property adviser Bilfinger GVA shows.

The sixth edition of Bilfinger GVA's Scottish Town Centres Report shows that, while high street rental values saw a significant drop between 2007 and 2014, these were now starting to rise again with a "noticeable upturn" in the year to May.

Bilfinger GVA operates in Scotland as GVA James Barr.

Richard Slipper, senior director of the planning, development and regeneration consulting team for GVA James Barr, said it was pleasing to see the downward trend beginning to reverse.
