FANDUEL, the fantasy sports gaming provider, has acquired what is believed to Scotland’s largest mobile app development agency.

The company has snapped up fellow Edinburgh company Kotikan for an undisclosed sum, bringing together two of the country’s most successful tech businesses.

Kotikan, which employs more than 50 staff and turns over £2.4 million, designed and developed the FanDuel mobile offering.

Its clients also include Skyscanner, Standard Life and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Kotikan team, headed by founder and chief executive Gavin Dutch, have joined the FanDuel team.

FanDuel said bringing the two companies together was a logical step.

The acquisition comes just days after FanDuel raised $275m from investors including private equity giant KKR, Google Capital and Time Warner Investments to drive its growth aspirations in the US.

FanDuel is credited with pioneering daily play in the fantasy league market for US sports including baseball, basketball, American football and college soccer.
