The first technology incubator in Scotland developed entirely by private capital and local entrepreneurs will launch in Edinburgh on Thursday.

Techcube, based in a refurbished seven-storey office block in the old Dick Veterinary School in Edinburgh , offers more than 20,000 square feet of office, co-working and hot-desking space.

It aims to "bring Edinburgh's ambitious, high-growth start-ups out of the city's spare rooms and coffee-shops and into a world-class hub", and to attract international angel and venture capital investment. The centre houses 17 companies.

TechCube's supporters include Skyscanner, FreeAgent and Scottish Equity Partners, Edinburgh University's School of Infomatics and the Scottish Government.
