What's the story?
The nights are fair drawing in.
Top marks for observation. Get to the point.
We can now embark on guilt-free telly binges without having to worry about whether we should be outside cutting the grass, painting guttering and such like. It's dark, therefore we can stay indoors from 7pm onwards, with the curtains closed, watching TV.
Go on. Any tips?
I'm glad you asked. Keep an eye out for Guilt, a four-part BBC drama about two brothers whose lives are thrown into dark turmoil following a car accident on the way home from a wedding. Starring Mark Bonnar and Jamie Sives, it will premiere on the BBC Scotland channel in the coming weeks.
Amazon Prime Video has Modern Love – a romantic comedy anthology based on a weekly column in the New York Times – available from October 18, with Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (series two) arriving on November 1 and The Man In The High Castle (series four) on November 15.
Anything else?
Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, billed as an epic saga of organised crime in post-war America, has a star-studded cast led by Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. It opens in cinemas on November 8 and is available on Netflix from November 27.
Also, if you haven't seen Netflix's Unbelievable, Criminal or the second series of Mindhunter yet, add those to your list.
This sounds busy.
I'll see you on the other side.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
