GREAT BRITAIN made a comfortable start to their Fed Cup campaign in Budapest on Wednesday with a 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein.

Johanna Konta kicked things off in style by thrashing Kathinka Von Deichmann 6-0 6-0 and the overall win was then secured by Heather Watson, who saw off Stephanie Vogt 6-2 6-3.

Jocelyn Rae and Anna Smith subsequently defeated Vogt and Von Deichmann 6-1 6-2 in the doubles.

The GB team - missing Laura Robson, who is still in rehabilitation after a wrist injury - play their next Group B fixture on Thursday against Turkey before facing Ukraine.

Captain Judy Murray said on www.lta.org.uk: "It was a nice way to start the event and was a relatively stressless day.

"We play against Turkey tomorrow which I expect will be tougher.

"It is nice to get through without having to spend too much time on court as by the time you get to the end of a week like this everyone is getting a bit tired.

"They all played very well today, they adapted well to the conditions and surface.

"In the doubles particularly, Anna was making her debut and it was nice for her to start off with a victory."
