ITALY are desperate to beat Scotland on Saturday at Murrayfield and claim their first RBS 6 Nations triumph in almost two years.

Coming off a season-opening 26-3 defeat at home to Ireland and a 47-17 loss at England, the Azzurri will now face the Scots in a battle of the winless teams.

Ireland were the last side to fall against the Italians, 22-15 in Rome on March 2013.

"We really want to bring home a positive result from this game," debutant Enrico Bacchin told federugby.it. "We will go there determined to play a good game, knowing that we will face a difficult test against Scotland."

The Benetton Treviso player replaces injured Andrea Masi in Italy's starting XV and will play alongside club team-mate Luca Morisi at centre.

"I've only played with Luca since this year but we have a great understanding," Bacchin said. "We want to play the way we know how and be calm. I'm really honoured to play in the Six Nations.

"For me this is a dream come true. I never thought I would make it but I'm just trying to concentrate on the chance that I have been given."

Bacchin is one of six changes that Italy coach Jacques Brunel made to the team that fell at Twickenham two weeks ago.

Zebre winger Michele Visentin will also start to earn his first cap while Benetton Treviso flanker Simone Favaro returns to play for the Azzurri for the first time since the Autumn test against Argentina in November.

Brunel believes his team, who are without prop Martin Castrogiovanni and lock Marco Bortolami, both out injured, must play the perfect game if it is to surprise Scotland this weekend.

"Scotland is one of the most difficult rivals," the Frenchman said. "Since 2013 we have lost against them, on two occasions by just one point, having badly managed the end of those games.

"They are a team with few weaknesses. They did well against France and had a great start against Wales. They are a difficult rival, especially when playing at home."

The Azzurri have won seven and lost 15 of their 22 meetings with Scotland, with their last triumph against the Scots coming in Rome three years ago. Italy have won just once at Murrayfield, a 37-17 triumph in 2007.
