Players Ratings for Motherwell v Rangers play-off final
MOTHERWELL:
LONG (6) Arguably had his best game for Motherwell on Thursday's first leg, had to wait until 66 minutes before being called upon to comfortably save from Vuckic.
LAW (6) Dealt well with the impressive Ferguson running at him. Little opportunity to get forward and help in attack early on.
McMANUS (7) Commanding and vocal at the back. Sent a free header a yard wide of the near post not long before the break at the other end.
LAING (6) Wayward header early on almost punished by Boyd as he latched on. A bit jittery but settled down as game progressed.
HAMMELL (6) Given the nod after pulling up on Thursday night. A professional display with little fuss.
AINSWORTH (7) Forced to defend during first half before he was allowed to torment Rangers after the break. Probing runs provided an outlet as Well ran the clock down before his low shot on 70 minutes kicked off the celebrations.
LASLEY (7) Not one of the most prominent displays from the Fir Park skipper but still played his part. A tireless effort.
PEARSON (6) A doubt before the game, the former Scotland internationalist helped to nullify the energetic Murdoch in midfield.
JOHNSON (8) Curled a fine effort just wide of Bell's far post from 25 yards just before the break. However, wasn't to be denied his moment on 52 minutes with a deflected shot which would kill the tie. Provided great run and assist for second.
McDONALD (6) Didn't pose much of a threat as he was forced to retreat into a midfield role. Linked play well.
ERWIN (8) Had the responsibility of leading line on his own as McDonald dropped deeper. Almost broke deadlock on 35 minutes with a turn and shot that just whistled by the far post. Won 90th minute penalty with great run.
SUBSTITUTES:
GRANT (5) On for Pearson with 14 left to play. The Evertonian enjoyed a quiet send off before returning to Goodison.
SUTTON (5) On for goal hero Ainsworth on 75 minutes. Cool head to clinch late third from spot.
RAMSDEN (3) On for Johnson who hobbled off on 83 minutes.
RANGERS:
BELL (4) A bystander until he cost his team any hope of promotion. Flapped miserably at Johnson's deflected shot as him and the ball ended up in the net.
FOSTER (3) Not the right-back's finest game in a light blue shirt. Struggled in possession, looked vulnerable on several occasions and was continuously run at during second half. Should have been dismissed for petulant kick on Johnson before giving away late penalty.
McCULLOCH (5) Brought back into defence in place of suspended McGregor. Main first-half contribution was to get booked for a late slide on McDonald. Put up front after the break with little impact.
ZALIUKAS (4) Nervy under pressure and ballooned Rangers' best first-half chance over with the goal gaping from a corner. May well be hauled up by SFA for elbow on Pearson.
WALLACE (6) Was relied upon heavily as his team looked weak down the right. A stand out without doing anything special, which tells its own story.
LAW (6) First return back to Fir Park for the midfielder since he left as a Well player. Industrious down the right and gave Hammell a hard time early on before being overwhelmed by task in second half.
MURDOCH (6) Lucky to escape with just a booking after a late lunge on Hammell.
VUCKIC (5) Booked for a dive by Craig Thomson on the edge of the Motherwell area after coming under pressure from Laing. Brighter than he was in first leg but struggled to settle.
FERGUSON (6) His first Rangers start, the on-loan Newcastle man was not scared to drive at Law down the right flank. Hooked after Well opener as Rangers hit panic button.
BOYD (5) Volleyed wide early on after ball fell to him free in box. Gave Rangers a target with a series of punted balls into Motherwell's box, but never got a sniff. Taken off after a frustrating hour.
MILLER (7) Covered every blade of grass for Stuart McCall's men. Saw little of the ball through the middle as Gers were forced out wide by Motherwell resistance.
SUBSTITUTES:
WALSH (4) On for Ferguson after 54 minutes. Could do little to stem the tide.
CLARK (5) Replaced a glum-looking Boyd on 59 minutes. Offered energy but little else.
MOHSNI (3) Brought on for Zaliukas immediately after Motherwell's second. Erratic before exploding late on.
