Kilmarnock are understood to have interviewed the former Rangers defender Henning Berg and the Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston as they search for a successor to Kenny Shiels.

Berg, 43, took up management in his Norwegian homeland after a playing career in which he won the Barclays Premier League with both Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United. He returned to Blackburn as manager last year but was sacked after just 57 days.

Johnston, a former Kilmarnock player, won the second division title and Ramsdens Cup with the Dumfries side last season, his first in management.

More interviews are expected to follow next week.
