EMILIO IZAGUIRRE has confirmed he's ready to play for Honduras at the end of the season in a move that could leave him with no summer break at all.

The Celtic full back is celebrating winning his fourth title in a row, but is in for a busy close season.

Izaguirre caused fury in his homeland by originally insisting he didn't want to be considered for the Gold Cup and Honduras' series of friendlies before it because he'd rather take part in Celtic's pre-season and their Champions League qualifiers.

However, he's now performed a u-turn and made himself available for his country in a move that is sure to disappoint Hoops boss Ronny Deila.

Izaguirre plans to meet up with the Honduras team as early as May 25 for their training camp and they have a marathon set of four friendlies against El Salvador, Paraguay, Brazil and Mexico and that's BEFORE they even start their Gold Cup tournament in July.

He said: "My plan is to play for the national team if I am selected. It depends on the manager, Jorge Luis Pinto.

"I am available for the friendly matches. Confusion arose earlier because I thought we would be in the Scottish Cup Final at the end of the season, which would have meant I couldn't play in those games.

"I am ready for the May 25 camp. Playing for Honduras remains the biggest achievement of my career, I'm grateful for playing in two World Cups and I'm close to winning my 80th cap.

"I'm not had the chance to play in a Gold Cup since 2007. I've not spoken directly with the manager, but he knows I am always ready."

The Gold Cup runs from July 7-26, which could mean Izaguirre could spend the entire summer playing for his country.
