Christian Eriksen restored Tottenham's advantage but the hosts rescued a point late on when a free-kick diverted off Kane into the net.
Graziano Pelle bagged two first-half goals as Southampton recorded a 4-0 win over Newcastle. Jack Cork made it three after half-time and Morgan Schneiderlin added a fourth.
Romelu Lukaku scored against old club West Brom in a 2-0 Everton win, with Kevin Mirallas netting the second.
A superb goal from Leonardo Ulloa gave Leicester a 1-0 win at Stoke.
Julian Speroni's penalty save from Burnley's Scott Arfield earned Crystal Palace a point for a goalless draw.
