Partick Thistle yesterday confirmed the appointment of Alan Archibald as manager on a permanent basis.

The 35-year-old has agreed a one-year rolling contract following a successful spell as interim manager, stepping in after Jackie McNamara left to take charge at Dundee United.

The Partick defender – who will continue to be assisted by Scott Paterson – helped maintain his side's ambitions of promotion during that time, with the Firhill club two points behind the Irn-Bru First Division leaders Morton with two games in hand.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be able to confirm the appointment of Alan Archibald as Partick Thistle manager," said David Beattie, the Partick chairman, whose club host Livingston today. "I look forward to working closely with them as we continue to work hard at providing a club that we can all take pride in."
