SCOTLAND could still end up in a Euro 2024 qualifying group of death, despite landing a place in pot two for the draw a week on Sunday.

In the worst case scenario, Steve Clarke’s side could be placed in a section with three teams who are ranked above them in the current FIFA standings.

All the pot 1 countries are listed above Scotland, while Sweden (20) and Turkey (42) - who are in pot three and four respectively, are also potential opponents.

Slovakia, who are only six places below Scotland, would be the pot five team to avoid in a five-team group.

The most favourable draw would see Scotland land Hungary as a pot 1 team then Armenia and Azerbaijan and Gibraltar.

Seven of the groups will be made of five teams, with three containing six. The top two countries progress to the finals in Germany.
