FORMER Rangers defender Marvin Andrews is confident Rangers will learn from the errors of their ways this season and ensure they don’t make the same mistakes again next term. “When they look back, they will see that they could have done better and there were opportunities there for them,” said Andrews.

And Andrews has also revealed that he doesn’t consider himself to be a Rangers legend, but thinks another tag would be a more accurate description. “I would call myself more of a cult hero than a legend,” Andrews said. “I don’t really see myself in the same category as these guys. Maybe I am a cult hero because of Helicopter Sunday. I can wear that tag.”

Following the confirmation that Motherwell winger Jake Hastie has signed a deal to move to Ibrox at the end of the season, former coach Marc Fitzpatrick has reckons that the 20-year-old has progressed faster than anyone could have anticipated. Fitzpatrick said: “It’s not as if he came down and he was an absolute stand-out for us and was miles better than everybody else. He was good, but you weren’t thinking ‘this boy is Rangers material’.”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has insisted that he is not the type of manager to lay into his players at half-time, but revealed he did so at Easter Road on Sunday. “I have this reputation as being a hairdryer-type manager,” admitted Lennon. “Not at all. But there are times when they need to be told and I think today was one of those days.”

And the Northern Irishman thinks that his side need to be more threatening from set pieces. Lennon said: “We work on them, we practice them, but you need to get them right in the moment and give the lads a chance to go and actually attack the ball.”

Scotland under-21 coach Peter Houston reckons that the Scottish FA should turn to Malky Mackay and Scot Gemmill to take the reins of the national side for the Euro 2020 qualifiers. “It would not surprise me if they turn to Malky and Scot, who are two capable guys - Malky has been a manager down south and done exceptionally well,” said Houston.

Ahead of Sunday’s Edinburgh derby at Easter Road, Hearts manager Craig Levein would like a repeat performance from the last time his side faced Hibs - only this time, he would like to see some more goals. “I was happy with the performance the last time we played here and if we could get more goals I’d be happier,” Levein said. “We’ll be ready for that.”

Ex-Celtic striker John Hartson thinks that Celtic’s stuttering end to the campaign could take some of the shine off of the club’s treble Treble. Hartson said: “I think the limbo the club is currently in is seeping onto the pitch again, and that is why we are seeing more and more of these laboured performances.”

And Hartson is insistent that his old club can take no chances with left-back Kieran Tierney as he recovers from injury. “He can be a top player well into his thirties if handled correctly, and he has to think about the long-term,” said Hartson.

The Welshman is also questioning whether or not Swedish internationalist Mikael Lustig has done enough since returning to the Celtic starting XI to justify a contract extension.

Elsewhere, the Scottish Sun are reporting that 16-year-old Celtic defender Liam Morrison is a target for Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

And the Daily Record reckon that Derek McInnes, Steve Clarke, David Moyes, Jack Ross and Scot Gemmill are all on a Scottish FA shortlist to succeed Alex McLeish as Scotland boss.
