CELTIC captain Scott Brown believes that his side can use their double treble as a springboard to reach the last 16 of next season’s Champions League.

The last time Celtic reached this stage of the tournament was in 2012/13 under Neil Lennon but Brown believes that his team have the quality to match that next season.

“I don’t see why not,” he said of reaching the knock-out stages.

“The manager wants us to push on and we want to do that as well.”

Celtic may have lost more games domestically than they did last year but Brown believes that this year’s treble was an even greater achievement than last year’s. And he has vowed that the Scottish Champions will continue to improve.

“There were too many draws this season for our liking, and too many defeats,” he said.

“We’ll work on that and there’ll be a few additions to the squad as well so we’ll kick on from here.”

The noises coming out of Ibrox suggest that Rangers will pose more of a threat to Celtic than they have in recent years but Brown remains unperturbed.

“We respond by winning games," he said.

"We’ve been to Ibrox a few times and we’ve won a lot. We’ve enjoyed that place as well. And we bring it back to Celtic Park, it’s going to be a better pitch next season so that’ll suit our game.”
