CRAIG Tanner has scaled the heights off the pitch since moving to Scotland, and after settling well since his move north from Plymouth, is well on his way to repeating the feat on the pitch with Motherwell.

The Fir Park attacker has found a rich vein of form of late, and he puts that down to how much he is currently enjoying his life away from the day job, as well as the regular football he is now being exposed to.

He has loved exploring the country recently with defender Richard Tait and their partners, and hopes that they can have another enjoyable day on their travels today when the pair join their teammates at Dens Park to take on Dundee.

“It’s been really enjoyable up here,” said Tanner. “I’ve settled in well both on and off the pitch. I couldn’t be happier at the moment to be honest.

“Me and Richard Tait and our two girlfriends were up north for a weekend there. It was right up the top of Scotland and we climbed a few mountains, so that was good. It was at Applecross Bay. I really enjoyed it.

“I get bored and restless, so I try to venture out. We’ve done Ben A’an and all of that, and Ben Lomond is next on the list.”

The sight of Tanner’s name on the teamsheet today should send something of a shiver through Dundee spines, given that he has scored in each of the three matches he has played against Neil McCann’s men so far this season, but Tanner himself played down any notion of him having an Indian sign over today’s opponents.

“I don’t know if it works like that, sometimes you just get the luck,” he said. “The ball has fallen for me in the right areas and I’ve managed to stick it away.”

At the other end of the field, Simon Murray will be hoping to carry on where he left off against Partick Thistle as he bagged his first goals for Dundee at Firhill, and Paul McGowan sees no reason why he can’t do just that.

“I was delighted for Simon to get his double at Partick,” McGowan said.

“He’s a Dundee fan and works his socks off no matter how things are going for him. You can’t ask for any more than that.

“People are maybe forgetting that before he came here on loan he had scored 14 goals for Hibs.”
