Kieran Tierney: Had to tread carefully when he was booked four minutes in to the game for a lunging tackle of Verbic. Seen little as an attacking threat and eventually made way for Steven Fletcher - 5
Christophe Berra: In a constant battle throughout – and often outmuscled – when Slovenia pitched their own centre-backs forward for set pieces. Hardly commanding and exposed as Slovenia took the lead - 4

Charlie Mulgrew: Like Berra, struggled to dominate when the ball was in his own box. Just didn’t possess a physical presence when it was needed - 4
Andrew Robertson: Turned defence into a throw in at the other end of the pitch with an amazing chase downfield in the first half. But hardly a patch on his display against Slovakia at Hampden - 5
James McArthur: Was deployed mostly on defensive duties against a tight-packed and skilful Slovenian midfield, but it was the Crystal Palace man’s header, planted into the opposition box that gave Griffiths his scoring opportunity - 5
Darren Fletcher: So much of the outcome hinged on elements the Scotland captain was involved in. He didn’t pick up Bezjak’s run that led to the equalising header and missed a glorious chance late on. He did make the pass however for Snodgrass, but that was too little too late - 5
Barry Bannan: Chased and harried the Slovenian playmakers throughout and was a constant obstacle for the hosts to overcome. But like others, was lacking a cutting edge and creativity - 5
Matt Phillips: Never really got going and gave possession away for too cheaply, as Scotland were being pressed and when keeping the ball was vital - 4
Chris Martin: Low first-half shot never really troubled Oblak. Often isolated up front, he did contest everything played in his direction and was a handful for those marking him but ultimately contributed little. Substituted immediately after the home side equalised. A gamble that didn’t work for Strachan - 3
Leigh Griffiths: Having been caught up in some ‘afters’ with Mevlja early on he produced a superbly-well timed run to beat offside before planting a wonderful volley across and beyond Oblak - 7
