A young boy has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car in Glasgow's south side.
He was struck in Cornalee Road in Pollok near the junction with Barrhead Road.
He was taken to the Southern General hospital and the road has been closed while an investigation is carried out.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "We were called around 7:55am to a report of a boy struck by a vehicle on Cornalee Road, near to Barrhead Road.
"The injured boy was taken by ambulance to Southern General Hospital. Police enquiries are ongoing at the scene."
The incident caused traffic congestion in surrounding streets and the M77.
A spokesman for Traffic Scotland said: "Barrhead Road is closed due to serious RTC. Traffic is very busy in the area."
All routes from the south side into the city have been affected.
One commuter said: "The traffic was nose-to-tail coming from the south side this morning - I've never seen it so bad in four years of living there.
"I ended up walking towards the city centre because it was faster than being on the bus.
"I thought something must have happened further back along the road and I hope everyone involved is alright."
Commuters also took to Twitter to complain about delays.
Ciara Sweeney said: "Big accident on Barrhead Road - don't go to Silverburn - been stuck here for half an hour."
Another Twitter user who goes by the name 'Stephoo57' said: "Huge traffic jam along the Barrhead Road coming from the Pollok Roundabout. Both roads are blocked off."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
