Plans to host a Glasgow screening of the hit time travel drama Outlander for devoted fans have been thrown into doubt.
The series is due to be premiered in London on Monday, three days before it is due to be made available on Amazon Prime Instant Video.
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, the lead actors in the £50 million series, have been confirmed for the screening of the first episode and a Q&A session with fans.
London fans were given the chance to apply for tickets for the event.
A live link up is due to take place at the Grosvener Cinema in Glasgow, where scenes from the hit time-travel drama were filmed.
However, the cinema was unaware the event was happening when contacted by the Evening Times and later said it was private show "for friends and family of the cast and crew."
A spokesman for Amazon said 35 tickets had been given away for the screening to fans.
A spokeswoman for the Grosvener said: "Apparently only a handful of invites were given out to people for this screening. "It is essentially a private show.
"As far as I'm aware the invites went to friends and family of the cast and crew."
The drama is based on the best-selling novels of American author Diana Gabaldon.
Locations across Scotland have also been deployed for Outlander, including Pollok Park and George Square, Doune Castle near Dunblane, Falkland and Culross in Fife, Blackness Castle in West Lothian, the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore.
A vast warehouse complex in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, was converted into a temporary studio by US cable channel Starz and entertainment giants Sony, who are behind the show, which will be based there for its entire second season, which is due to go into production in the summer.
Like the London event, the event in Glasgow is a fan event. Fans attending the Glasgow event will have opportunity to submit questions for the cast and executive producer at the post.
A spokesman for Amazon said; "Like the London event, the event in Glasgow is a fan event. Fans attending the Glasgow event will have opportunity to submit questions for the cast and executive producer at the post screening Q&A, which will be relayed through a live transmission.
" Entry for the ticket giveaway for both the London and Glasgow events was held last week."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
