FORMER Manchester United manager David Moyes is being investigated by police over claims he assaulted a man at a wine bar on Wednesday night.

Officers were called to a venue in Clitheroe, Lancashire, after reports that Glasgow-born Moyes was involved in an altercation with a 23-year-old local man. The 51-year-old, who lost his job at Old Trafford after a dismal season, was socialising with Blackburn Rovers managing director Derek Shaw, a friend from his time at Preston North End. Lancashire Police said the complainant did not require hospital treatment, adding: "Inquiries are ongoing."
