A man has died after the tipper truck he was driving struck an overhead power line.

Police were called to the scene at Humbie Holdings farm near Kirknewton in West Lothian at about 5.50pm yesterday.

The 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended.

Police Scotland said there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The power cable was an 11,000-volt line.

An SP Energy Networks spokesman said: "We can confirm that we were called out to reports of an incident beside a power line in Kirknewton just after 6pm last night.

"Emergency services were also in attendance and the police and the Health and Safety Executive are now investigating."
