A GLASGOW 2014 bronze medal winner has made an appeal to the public after his prize stolen was from his home.

Ken Parr, who won third place in the 50m men's prone rifle event, said he was "gutted" to find someone had pinched his treasured medal.

The 26-year-old is not the first Commonwealth Games athlete to have been targeted by thieves.

Former 400m runner Kelly Sotherton revealed her gold medal, won at the Melbourne event in 2006, was stolen from her home in February.

However, in that case, her prize turned up in a post box a month later.

Parr, the only person to have won all three Olympic rifle titles in their sporting career, discovered the medal was gone after returning home on Thursday.

He later took to Twitter to air his frustrations and call on the public to keep their eyes out for the distinctive bronze medal.

He said: "Gutted to have had my 2014 Commonwealth Games medal stolen.

"Came back to flat and the whole place had been turned over. Hopefully it will turn up like @KellySotherton's."

He later described the robbery as a "nightmare", adding "Came back to flat and the whole place had been turned over."
