A SCHOOLGIRL is today fighting for her life while three of her teenage pals were also treated in hospital amid fears they took ecstasy.

16-year-old Amy Thomson became unwell at a property in Knightswood.

Three other girls at the house, aged 15, 17, and 18, were taken to hospital and were treated after showing symptoms consistent with drug misuse.

Police are investigating the incident, which took place last Wednesday, and said inquiries are ongoing.

A 33-year-old man and two women, aged 17 and 18, have been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged drugs offences.

Police said the alarm was raised at around 4.15pm after the 16-year-old collapsed and all four girls were rushed to the South Glasgow University Hospital.

Medical staff today described the 16-year-old's condition as "critical but stable."

The Evening Times understands crystal MDMA - which can be stronger than other ecstasy tablets - are currently in circulation in Glasgow.

However, police sources stressed it was not yet known what the girls had taken and toxicology tests are being carried out.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman, said: "Four girls, aged 15, 16, 17 and 18-years-old, were admitted to South Glasgow University Hospital after becoming ill in the Knightswood area of Glasgow at around 4.15pm on Wednesday June 10.

"The 16-year-old remains in hospital, where medical staff said she remains in a critical but stable condition.

"A police investigation is ongoing."

Police in Glasgow have repeatedly warned about the dangers of "party pills" and so-called legal highs.

A warning was issued after the death of 17-year-old Regane MacColl who fell ill in a city centre nightclub.

Her death was linked to Red Mortal Kombat pills.

Green and yellow pills - dubbed Rockstar - also sparked fears after it was discovered they contained a deadly mix of PMA, PMMA, and caffeine.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
