Police in Dumfries and Galloway are investigating three "unexplained" deaths which took place over three days.

The bodies of two men were discovered in Dumfries and while the pair knew each other, it is not known if their deaths are related, police say.

Stephen Fleming, 28, was found at his home in Queensferry Street in the evening of Sunday April 7 while Blair McKenna, from Lockerbie Road, was discovered behind the town's council buildings in English Street three days later on Wednesday at 7.25am.

It is understood his body had been there for several hours.

In a separate incident, Paul Hester, 49, died in Galloway hospital in Stranraer on Monday.

Mr Hester was last seen outside The Bridge Arms on Bridge Street in Stranraer about 2.30am where police officers had spoken to him and another man. The pair walked off in the direction of Lewis Street.

Police would like to speak to a man who spoke to officers around the same time also on Bridge Street.

He is described as in his mid 20s, 6ft with short brown hair and of slim build. At the time, the man, who has a local accent, was wearing a dark shirt and trousers.

Police say Mr Hester was well-known in the Stranraer area and are asking anyone with information to contact the police on 101.

Officers are carrying out inquiries into all three deaths, which have been described as unexplained.
