A TEENAGE boy has died after an incident inside a Glasgow station.

Police were called to the High Street station shortly before 4pm following reports of an incident. 

The road was closed while a 14-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries, however has since died. 

Detective Inspector Iain Nelson of Greater Glasgow Division said: “This has been a shocking loss of a young life and a significant investigation is underway.

“Specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Those who were in the area at the time, or have information which may be relevant, are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2280 of Saturday, October 16.

High Street reopened to vehicle traffic at around 5:45pm.

 

ScotRail earlier confirmed High Street station was closed and all services are bypassing the stop as emergency crews deal with the incident.

Customers can leave the train at either Glasgow Queen Street Low Level or at Bellgrove.

Alternatively, passengers can board services to and from Glasgow Central Low Level and alight at Bridgeton.

ScotRail said it is working closely with the emergency services during this time and updates will be provided via Twitter.

British Transport Police and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
