Industry experts from the hair, beauty and aesthetics industry graced the red carpet on Sunday night to celebrate the 2018 Look Awards which were supported by City of Glasgow College, Remi Cachet, Great British Barbering Academy, Fake Bake and The Scottish Hair & Beauty Show.

Hosted by Jennifer Reoch, over 250 guests from across Scotland celebrated at The Crowne Plaza, Glasgow. The event kicked off with a champagne reception and goody bags and gifts were also provided thanks to Fake Bake, City of Glasgow College, Benefit, The Gin Spa and Vidal Sassoon.

Winners collected awards across 26 categories including the Outstanding Contribution award presented by The Herald, which went to Sharz Din, Creative Director at Vidal Sassoon.

The Scottish Hair & Beauty Show sponsored the Spa categories this year, The Gin Spa took home an award for small to medium Spa of the Year, whilst The Spa at Blythswood Square took the Large Spa award. Gary Hackett, Managing Director, Scottish Hair & Beauty Show said “Congratulations to all of the winners of this year’s Look Awards. It has been great to be part of such an event, celebrating the success of hair, beauty and aesthetics businesses across Scotland.”

The hair categories were judged live at the SEC as part of The Look Awards Live Styling Event at the Scottish Hair & Beauty Show earlier in the day on Sunday, and the winners were announced on the evening. Liam Chappell from the Hair Boutique won Hair Extension Specialist of the Year sponsored by Remi Cachet, after impressing the judges. Victoria Lynch, Managing Director of Remi Cachet and Look Awards Judge said “What an amazing event focusing on our industry and talent here in Scotland. It was a pleasure to Judge the Live Rounds and especially the Extension Specialist Category where the work on show was of an exceptionally high standard picking a winner was tough."

Sam Massey took home Barber of the Year. Mike Taylor, Founder of Great British Barbering Academy, who were sponsoring Scotland’s Best Barber said “Congratulations to all of the winners last night, the quality of barbering I witnessed yesterday at the live judging session made the decision a difficult one, but a massive well done to everyone who took part.”

Fake bake sponsored Best Use of Social Media Award which was won by the instafamous Kumba Dauda’s social media company Kumbear XO. Sandra Vaughan, Fake Bake, Global Beauty Consultant said “Fake Bake had yet another wonderful evening at the Look Awards, always a very slick event which we are pleased to support. Congratulations to all of the winners, they were very well deserved.”

The Best Start Up category sponsored by City of Glasgow College was awarded to Guy & Beard Limited. Elspeth McCallum, Industry Academy Curriculum Head said "City of Glasgow College would like to congratulate all of the deserved winners tonight, the standard was so high this year and we would like to thank everyone who entered. It was another fantastic event and we can't wait till next year. Well done to all of the nominees and winners."
