Nicola Sturgeon has warned the next Prime Minister not to block another independence referendum.

The First Minister said she would “caution” against any such move.

The SNP leader also said that the UK that Scots voted to remain part of in 2014 “does not exist any more”.

She also rejected suggestions that the EU had rejected her call for separate Scottish talks..

It was not right to say “anyone in Brussels has turned anything down”, she told the BBC’s Andrew Marr programme.

She reiterated her plans to seek discussions with EU institutions and other member states.

She was also pressed on the issue of what currency an independent Scotland would use and the possibility of a hard border with England.

Asked what would happen if the next Conservative Prime Minister barred a second independence referendum, Ms Sturgeon said she would "caution any future Prime Minister against putting themselves in that position"
