EDINBURGH supply 11 players for the Edinburgh-Glasgow Select XV to meet the Australians at Old Anniesland, on Saturday.
Scotland's most capped player, Scott Hastings, leads the side which also features GHK's Shade Munro, who is catapulted straight back into representative action - first with Glasgow, Scotland A today at Galashiels, and now with the combination side - after his return from Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.
Munro partners, in the second row, 20-year-old medical student Andy Lucking. The 6ft 8ins Currie lock, who hails from Sheffield but, apparently, is qualified for Scotland, has made rapid progress on the representative front this season after outings with Edinburgh in their European Cup campaign.
The Edinburgh-Glasgow side is:
D Lee (Watsonians); D Stark (Melrose), S Hastings, A Garry (both Watsonians), K Logan (Stirling County), G Beveridge (Boroughmuir); W Watt (Currie), G Bulloch (West of Scotland), B Stewart (Edinburgh Academicals), S Munro (GHK), A Lucking (Currie), S Reid (Boroughmuir), G Dall (Heriot's FP).
Replacements - G Metcalf (Glasgow Academicals), A Donaldson (Currie), G Burns (Watsonians), D McLeish (West of Scotland), B Robertson (Stirling County), G McKelvey (Watsonians).
q GLASGOW, beaten 25-10 by Newport last Saturday, have made five changes in personnel for their final European Conference match against Agen at Hughenden tonight (kick-off 5.30).
Three of the changes, however, have been enforced by the unavailability of international players. Ian Jardine and Derek Stark are injured, while Shade Munro will be playing for Scotland A against Australia at Galashiels, as is his GHK colleague, Murray Wallace.
Jardine and Stark, however, expect to be fit to play for the Glasgow-Edinburgh XV against Australia at Old Anniesland on Saturday.
Because of the absence of three international threequarters, Jardine, Stark, and Kenny Logan, Glasgow have a new-look back division. Glenn Metcalfe returns on the right wing to replace Stark, and Craig Sangster switches from full back to take over from his Stirling County colleague, Jardine.
Cammy Little, the GHK scrum half, who has played as a replacement in three of Glasgow's four previous European matches, will be in a new role at full back.
Andrew Garry, the Watsonians centre, also returns out of his accustomed position in displacing John MacLeod at stand-off.
Steve Begley, who played in Glasgow's three matches before Munro's return from New Zealand, resumes in the second row, and Fergus Wallace, who missed the Newport defeat because of injury, takes over from his brother, Murray, as blind-side flanker.
Agen have listed two capped backs, Stephane Longo and Olivier Campan, as well as the Moroccan international lock, Nordine Mekkaoui. But their French international back-row forwards, Philippe Benetton and Abdelatif Benazzi, are out. Teams:
Glasgow - C Little (GHK); G Metcalfe (Glasgow Academicals), A Bulloch (West of Scotland), C Sangster (Stirling County), J Craig (West of Scotland); A Garry (Watsonians), J Weston (Watsonians); A Perrie (Glasgow Academicals), G Bulloch (West of Scotland), B Robertson (Stirling County), S Begley (Glasgow Academicals), M Norval (Stirling County), F Wallace (GHK), D McLeish (West of Scotland), J Shaw (West of Scotland).
Replacements - J McLaren (Stirling County), J MacLeod (GHK), F Stott (West of Scotland), D McVey (West of Scotland), G Mackay (Glasgow Academicals), G McIlwham (GHK), D Porte (Glasgow Academicals).
Agen - S Longo; L Louberes, O Campan, J Mateo, J F Mateo; S Prosper, D Tastets; J J Crenca, P Piacentini, J Abraham, N Mekkaoui, L Gunter, F Bourdeil, D Lagrange, J Troader.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
