Summer arrived in style this week as an ensemble of award winning luxury lifestyle, millinery, hair and beauty brands came together 'In Conversation With…' to share their insights and expert tips for the new season.
Presented by Dr Darren McKeown, the country's leading aesthetic expert, and staged to a full capacity audience in his stunning Glasgow city centre Aesthetic Medicine Institute, 'In Conversation With' was hosted by respected journalist and broadcaster Anna Burnside.
Guests arrived to a suitably sparkling reception, courtesy of Chandon, the new summery proposition by Champagne house Moët & Chandon. Martin Wishart's The Honours, the new star on Glasgow's culinary scene, thrilled guests with artfully arranged canapés.
A warm introductory welcome was made by Dr Darren - recently named in Harper's Bazaar much lauded Top 10 Influencer list and the only expert to be included from outwith London - during which he spoke eloquently about the industry and developments, as well as his rising status nationally.
Scottish milliner-to-the-stars William Chambers then joined Darren and Anna to chat about his own stellar career ascent and illustrious client list which includes Lady Gaga, Livia Firth, Vogue's style icon Anna Dello Russo, singers Kelis and Roisin Murphy and most recently Judy Murray whose striking creation of William's she wore to Andy's wedding - generating enormous international media coverage. In a pertinently timed UK exclusive, William presented key looks from his summer 2015 collection as well as commentary on the golden guide to wearing millinery successfully.
Augmenting William's presentation was Rainbow Room International's Dylan Brittain and Suzie McGill. The multi award-winning duo can be found backstage at the most high profile events including London Fashion Week, MTV EMA, Scottish Style Awards and T in the Park, and this was a unique opportunity for the audience to hear their expert commentary on the hottest summer trends in an intimate setting.
Celebrity favourite Sara Hill is one of Scotland's top make-up artists and the founder of The Academy of Make-up. Countless famous names have enlisted Sara's skills including Grace Jones, Emeli Sande, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Mel C, and the in-demand artist's team showcased the insider tricks of the trade to stunning effect. Guests were also treated to a preview of the soon-to-be-launched Sara Hill make-up collection which is sure to propel her cult status even further.
Completing the quartet of style, designer mecca Cruise presented the most striking summer looks from Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
