A STIRLINGSHIRE-based caravan site has moved into the "glamping" market with the acquisition of two luxury safari tents.

Grant and Gillian Turnbull, owners of the Carr's Hill park near Falkirk, have invested into the tents to provide all the comforts of home while being close to the great outdoors.

The facilities have come on stream at the 12-acre rural estate in time for the Scottish school summer holidays, which begin this week.

Aimed at families with young children, each tent features king-size and triple-bunk bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, private dining room and large outdoor space with barbecue. They also come with board games, magazines and options for outdoor play. The tents are not equipped with wi-fi as families are encourage to interact.

Mr Turnbull said: "Carr's Hill has been attracting tourists from throughout the UK and Europe and even as far afield as Australia and New Zealand. In recent years we have seen more people using our pitches for longer breaks, so we wanted to expand our accommodation to provide something completely unique and something that would really attract people to Falkirk as a holiday destination.

"The support we have received through Business Gateway Falkirk has been instrumental in helping us develop our strategy for the site to bring even more international visitors to the area."

Carr's Hill, which launched five years ago, holds the prestigious Caravan Club Certificated Location (CL) status. And last year it gained a UK-wide accolade at the Caravan Club CL awards at Westminster, which recognises small, privately-owned sites across the UK, many in idyllic and remote locations.
