Alfie Brown discusses his show Ism.

1 Tell us about your Fringe show

It’s very funny. That’s the first thing. That was job one. It’s also themed loosely to be about tribalism.

2 Best thing about the Fringe?

As a comedian you never get to hang out with all your colleagues and peers at once. Edinburgh fringe gives you this opportunity. It’s mostly a good thing.

3 Worst thing about the Fringe?

Hanging out with p***k comedians.

4 How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?

10 years, and I’ve performed at it for 7.

5 Favourite Fringe venue?

As a room to do stand-up in - I like The Tron. It’s got a proper comedy club feel to it.

6 Best Fringe memory?

Watching England win the Ashes. Or making last orders at The Loft Bar and then managing to run in time for last orders at the local kebab and pizza ‘restaurant’. Both 5am. Solid stuff. And credit to Matt Ewins for buying the kebabs. His show is excellent this year.

7 Best heckle?

My ego precludes me from remembering such things.

8 Craziest on stage experience?

Doing a drag act in a derelict underground bar in the city of London. My name was Muriel Bastard.

9 What’s on your rider?

I think you’ve overestimated me.

10 How do you wind down after a show?

I can’t really. I haven’t mastered that. I feel adrenally f***ed and crave beer. I need attention. It’s pathetic. I’ll try and get better and tell you.

11 What do you love about Scotland?

That’s a presumptive question. The slightly cooler climate. I hate heat. The summer months are more comfortably spent below 20c. I don’t trust men who wear shorts.

12 What do you like about Edinburgh?

I love Edinburgh. It’s incredibly beautiful, has a strong identity and one month a year I get to be onstage for an hour every night.

13 What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?

The accent.

14 What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?

I’m not sure, I’ve only played the Fringe.

15 Favourite joke?

My favourite joke is in my show. Not meaning to sound like a shit but it’s in my show. Well, my show is on at 7.20 throughout August in the Assembly Box. TICKETS. https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/alfie-brown-ism
